Marc Anthony is back with some serious salsa flare. His single off his latest album, Marc Anthony 3.0, “Vivir Mi Vida” has been certified platinum.
The singer phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about his triumphant return to salsa. “It’s really interesting. I haven’t recorded a salsa album in ten years and … the single’s been No. 1 for 15 weeks now … it’s an amazing time and we’ve kicked off the tour and this is one way to enjoy it. It’s a celebration of music.”
Marc adds that it was a long time in the making. “I’ve been collecting [salsa] songs for ten years … They sent me this one song and once I heard this one song I knew it was time to get back to the studio and I couldn’t breathe with all these songs in my head … so I just needed to get in the studio and just upload some of this stuff.”
And when he returned to the studio, Marc admits he adopted a whole new approach. “I recorded this album totally live,” the singer tells us. “I had 15 musicians there … and we would record three songs a day, so I never worked that way [before], but it’s a testament to where I was musically.”
And although Marc’s been performing his new jams on the road, he’s still got another role to play: father.
So how do his kids with Jennifer Lopez, twins Max and Emme, handle their famous dad’s work?
“They were born on tour. They were born behind the scenes. They were raised on Idol, so I walk into the house and they’ll say, ‘Where are all our friends?’” Marc laughs. ”And ‘I’m like, Daddy doesn’t live with 20,000 people. That’s Daddy’s work and this is home.’ So for them it’s totally natural.”
