True Blood actor Rob Kazinsky is taking on the role of a Jaeger Pilot in the Guillermo del Toro-directed blockbuster, Pacific Rim.
Revolving around an alien attack that threatens Earth’s existence, giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off the menace and Rob’s character had to gain some serious muscle for the role.
To play Chuck Hansen, the actor reveals to On Air with Ryan Seacrest that to get into shape for the role he took on a serious diet and workout regime. Like, a serious one!
“It was four to five hours working out, six days a week, 12,000-calorie diet [with] meals every two hours, and protein shakes in between every single one of those two hour meals,” which required “waking up in the middle of the night to eat.”
“It was excessive,” adds Rob. “[But] we were very privileged to be paid to be trained!”
Sounds more like torture to us!
Be sure to catch Rob and his ripped bod in Pacific Rim, out in theaters now.
