Actress and executive producer Eva Longoria phoned in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” to talk new dating show Ready for Love, and revealed although she herself finds dating exhausting, she does believe in matchmaking!
As executive producer, Eva revealed she decided to create the show because she felt there was a void to fill. “I tended to watch the crazy far-fetched gimmicky [dating shows] because the so-called normal ones were really boring to me and just so produced and not really realistic and just bad results, so I went to the crazy stuff like Flavor Flav and Rock of Love stuff like that…so that’s why I thought there was a void in the dating format.” Adding, “we wanted to modernize it and contemporize it and make it a little more of an authentic process.”
Eva shares the sure-to-be-a-hit show accomplishes that goal by featuring three matchmakers who assist in the process of setting up the three eligible bachelors by utilizing “three really different approaches” and “a different philosophy on love.” And it’s not just for those featured on the show, in fact, Eva adds, “there are so many take aways for the audience [too].”
So what’s behind the concept of love at third sight?!
Eva explains: “You have to go on three dates before you can brush someone off.” Adding, “before you have any intimate deep conversations, you’ve got to give it a chance.”
As for how Eva feels about dating herself? She doesn’t dig it, but she does believe in matchmaking!
Eva laughs, “I find [dating] exhausting, but I’m a great matchmaker!”
Tune in to the premiere of Ready for Love on NBC tonight at 9/8c.
